*wail*

I seriously type out everything: gaming, chatting, texting, etc, unless I'm doing something jokingly, like texting back to my husband about what I want for dinner: m347 (meat)! Or he & I will 1337 speak until the other one gives up from bleeding eyes :P

I'd say it was a generational thing but my mother-in-law sends texts without vowels & with "u"s and "2"s but she tends to be in a hurry or about to lose her phone connection (cell reception in south Havasu sucks). And my dad types with "u" & without capitalizations all the time. But he's a slow 2-finger typist, lol.

So I guess I'm just anal-retentive :P

Are...are you really an eagle irl, typing with your fierce talons?

Yeah, I've become immune to others doing it & can usually tell if it's how a person really is or if they're doing it to be a pita (pain in the...butt :P). I forgive the latter much easier than the former.

I used to be like Kally and make sure everything was correct. Would erase a sentence because I missed a comma or a capital letter.

Now, especially with in-game chat, I race with the words so I can get back to the action and will notice a typo and often just leave it. *gasp* Me! I don't use l33t sp34k but I will abbreviate considerably. It's a time thing. I rush to say what I'm going to say so I can get back to the very important things I am doing and not wreck it (can we say "tradeskilling?).

However, usually in these posts, letters, emails, etc., I try to be as correct as possible. For one thing, I consider my writing to be a role model for the writers who are punctuationally challenged. :P For another, if I let myself get too sloppy, it might show up in my fiction writing. However, when I am tired or in a tearing hurry, I do let things slide. Human nature, isn't it?

Why is "abbreviation" such a long word?

I suppose if you are capable of spelling the word, you have earned the right to abbreviate your own text.

Call it a test of sorts.
