Thanks for the good wishes, Kally. My in-laws came up from Minnesota and helped us celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving. They thought they were really lucky to have two Thanksgivings in one year.

It was a wonderful time, and I loved them at first sight (first time I've met them in person). We all found so much to be thankful for in each other. And we had a wonderful meal. My MIL cooked and it was a combination Canadian-American meal, with ALL the trimmings, including two kinds of homemade pie, homemade oatmeal raisin and peanutbutter cookies, and a wonderful banana pudding.

They went home yesterday, and I cried. It was a great visit!

Sounds delightful. I am glad you had a good time. We are already creating our menu for our Thanksgiving down here. We may have an extra guest.

A man my brother works with has no where to go and no family to be with, so we just need to confirm he's coming, and we will make sure he isn't lonely. :)

Let the hectic holiday season commence!!

I went to visit my parents for Thanksgiving. I had somewhat expected they would have invited their pet human to Thanksgiving supper (I could not get there until Sunday afternoon, so we had our ham feast for the evening meal), but there was no mention of him.

Their pet human is an elderly man who sort of attached himself to them several years ago. He is very fond of asking people for favours, and since his cooking is very basic and he has no immediate family remaining, they fairly regularly invite him to holiday meals.

He does not drive anymore though, so perhaps they were not willing to travel the half hour to pick him up, then do it again to bring him home again. I did not ask.
