I thought this was interesting. I never really thought about it before but it makes sense:
Why Arizona Doesn't Observe DST

(So, why doesn't Saskatchewan, Raya? :))

Hmm, I never thought about the heat being a major factor. It gets pretty hot here in the summer, but it cools off pretty quickly at night.

I've heard that the reason Saskatchewan doesn't go on DST is because the province is largely a farming community, and the farmers don't want to get up at 4:30am to milk the cows instead of 5:30am. The change of time also interferes with the routines of the dairy cows, chickens, etc.

Like you, we are on Calgary time in the summer and Winnipeg time in the winter. I find it confusing, when we are the place that doesn't change our time at all, to have it changed twice in a year with our neighbors.

That makes sense re: the farming communities. Maybe Kansas & Nebraska could take a cue from you guys ;)

At least you & I are always one hour apart, since neither of us changes!

I want to start a petition to discontinue daylight savings time. Make it whatever it's going to be, and leave it alone. The health risks and traffic accidents alone should be enough to convince people that it's a bad idea, but ... I'm not going to really start ranting. I'm not.
